1) Syringe filter housings are manufactured from solvent-resistant, low-extractable polypropylene resins specifically selected for wide compatibility with common HPLC sample matrices. 2) Solutions at temperatures up to 100°C can be filtered using syringe filters. 3) Syringe filters can be sterilized by autoclave at 125°C for 15 minutes.
Aug 7, 2018 · Membrane-sample Compatibility. It’s easy to overlook membrane compatibility when picking out your filter or device for your sample filtration. Good membrane-sample compatibility supports efficient filtration and minimizes resistance, while poor compatibility might result in backpressure, ineffective filtration, or even chemical attack of your membrane, leading to contamination of your filtrate.
The primary concern when choosing a solvent filter is solvent compatibility with the filter material. Pall offers several filters to accommodate the various types of HPLC solvents. Pall’s wwPTFE membrane that is chemically compatible with the majority of common mobile phase solutions and solvents, thus eliminating confusion with filter selection.
Filter material must be compatible with the chemical nature of the liquid being filtered under the conditions that the filtration will be performed. This will minimize the risk of structural failure during filtration. Although chemical compatibility usually deals with the liquid phase of the sample, dissolved solutes may interact with the membrane in an undesirable manner.
Pall GHP Polypropylene membrane will be discontinued effective October 31st, 2019. This discontinuation affects devices including Filter Plates, Syringe Filters, Centrifugal Devices and Membrane Filter Discs. Essential for biomolecule purifications and separations filter plates are offered in different filtration media membrane to accommodate any array applications. With individual membranes

We have compiled compatibility tables listing material resistance to common solvents, making them useful for quick reference. Basing filter material selection on compatibility minimizes the likelihood of issues such as slow or ineffective filtration, or sample contamination from extractables, and maximizes filtration efficiency.

relate to a membrane that may respond almost immediately to immersion in solvent. In addition, solvent-membrane compatibility requires additional consideration of filtration-specific factors. None of these published compatibility guides, for example, monitors the solvent’s ability to wet a membrane or increase extractables. 4.
